I am a lover of all things fabulous, but sometimes fabulous things come with not so fab prices! For that reason, I love shopping at high end consignment shops! A consignment shop is a resale shop, that often has designer goods at a fraction of their retail value… most items are preloved/ preowned. In Atlanta we have some of the best Consignment shops in the country, but because I am constantly in and out of town I don’t always have time to shop in store.

I’m not sure exactly how I ran across Fashion Phile’s website, but when I did I died and went to consigner’s paradise! They are a California based site with showrooms in San Diego, San Francisco, and soon to be New York. I’m not big on buying designer goods online unless they come directly from the designer’s site or a major department store, so I was hesitant to make a purchase (even though they guarantee authenticity.) I looked at Fashion Phile’s site weekly for months contemplating rather I should give them a try or not. I figured I’d start with something $500 or less, so I wouldn’t be out too much money if I wasn’t happy and had to make a return. I also joined their mailing list... just Incase they decided they wanted to entice me to make a purchase by sending me a coupon... it didn’t happen lol.

On their website they have a clearance section where you can bid for items on eBay, and a “Last Call” section where items get marked down daily until they sale.

In the Last Call section, I found a beautiful Gucci Hobo, though it was an older style, a little misshaped, and a little dirty on the bottom; it had clearly been taken care of very well. The bag was originally $495 on their site and when I spotted it, I think it had gone down to about $375. I decided I MUST have this bag! I watched it for a week, waiting and hoping it would go below $300. At some point I even called the showroom and asked about the condition of the bag, to make sure what I saw online was correct. They where super nice and though they didn’t have a stylist immediately available to assist me, one called me back within the hour. She gave me her honest opinion on the bag’s condition, and allowed me to ask questions. She even explained their layaway program, how much taxes I would have to pay if I picked it up in showroom, and the pros and cons of each. In order to get the full scope of how the company worked I decided to try their free layaway.

When I made my decision the bag had gone down to $310, I became obsessed and checked their site every few hours to see if it had sold. My mom told me I better get it before someone else does, since 30-40 other people had it in their shopping carts too. Finally, I broke down and made a deposit and had 60 days to pay it off... no extra fees and free shipping! Up until I paid it off I got an occasional reminder of how long I had left, and I was able to complete the entire transaction online. The entire process was easy and quick!

The shipping was fast and I was able to track the whole thing on their site, my package came a day earlier than anticipated and the packaging was super cute! The bag was better than I anticipated, and I can’t wait to order from them again!
